Am I on the right path?

Stairway to Heaven?

I talk with a lot of friends and clients who are looking for a greater sense of purpose. A common refrain is: Am I on the right path?!?

Don't we all want to be on the "right" path?

Over the summer I visited this thought-provoking tower in the Netherlands. It made me think about what it means to follow your path.

I think a lot of us have been programmed to take this approach…

Ok. I see you tower. There is a clear path to get to the top. I do the work to climb the stairs to get to the next level. Once I do that I will be rewarded with an easier life, deeper understanding, a better view. I can see where I'm headed. Just stick to the plan and I'll be up in the clouds in no time. Planning, logical steps, point A to point B. I’ve got this.

However, life and the universe may have a different plan for you.

Can you go with the flow?

The path may not always be headed "up.” Shifts may not occur at predictable and regular intervals like climbing a set of stairs. Challenges and curve balls are part of the process.

It can be annoying!

Here some things that can help. Stopping along the way to rest, recharge and enjoy the view. Providing space for creativity and inspiration so your intuition and inner knowing can show you the way. Accepting that setbacks, obstacles, U-turns and confusion are there to show you and teach you. Being ok with where you are right now. Holding the vision for where you want to be.

Try shifting your mindset from being on the "right" path to being comfortable with "my" path. Because whatever your path - it’s always the right one. All of your experiences along the way are supporting your own expansion and soul growth.
